Unique hula accessories, the extra pieces of your hula dance puzzle
Unique hula accessories are the extra bells and whistles required to complete an experienced hula dancer with his or her performance. These can be anything from
weapons
(clubs, spears, sticks),
shakers
(Hawaiian uliuli), lei’s, sounding shells, necklaces and many
different types
of instruments, even to the right facial make up. Just like James Bond OO7 your accessories are your back up in many different and difficult situations you may find yourself in. When performing the Polynesian style of dancing the hula accessories that are added or created are just like the gadgets OO7 James Bond would rely on from his designer Q. History and my personal experiences shows that
Polynesian people
have a great ability to produce accessories out of almost thin air; they utilize their surroundings, using in some cases natures supermarket of fresh flowers, flax and many other earthly materials which they continue to use in today’s modern era. But unique hula accessories today have up graded to imitation products that will not wilt or die like fresh flowers ect, made mainly from plastics or material cloth, dusters for the feather look just to name but a few. There is more of a different variety of these accessories available that have a longer life span and can be easily replaced, and they do create that look of realness for hula accessories the performers are looking for when hula dancing. But like anything you cannot beat the real thing when it comes to accessories, to have the real mcCoy, to smell the freshness of the flowers and to see their natural colours in full bloom is a sight in it self to behold, but there is only so much the earth can offer. So the next time your are getting rid of your garden rubbish or some plastic or other waste take a careful look at what you may be throwing away, it may be some unique hula accessories that you could save for another adventure or it could be something James Bond would use. You Never Know Your Luck!
