Male hula belt .. the male waste accessory to complete a costume
The male hula belt is the equivalent to the female “titi” but on a smaller scale, not as thick in its make or as colourful. This costume accessory for male hula dancers is a lot thinner in width with fewer components, and more of a plain masculine look. It takes less time to produce than the female counterpart because it needs to retain that Man look and feel .. plain but graceful .. powerful but refreshing. This “titi” model can sometimes be just a plain piece of material in one colour or can be made with flax type plantation as like the female version.
“Hula Costume”
Another great asset this
male hula belt
has is its versatility to be used through out a whole show or to be changed to another belt for a particular performance. When a male hula dancer is performing at his capacity the last thing he wants is his “titi” belt to obstruct his movements, this is the reason for “less is more”. when it comes to making this important accessory for a male hula dance costume. So the Polynesian hula belt is not necessarily made to hold your pants up .. even though it could, but you could use it if you we game to enhance you outfit or suit which does happen in some South Pacific countries. I mean how many times have you wrapped a jumper around your waste .. think about it .. its not there to hold up your pants, but maybe more of an accessory .. “what do you think?”
