Kaara hula drum, known as the taki rua or the double .. the fast and furious
The kaara hula drum .. where do I start, this taki rua small wooden log drum is like a ferrari with unlimited speed potential. Nick-named the double, this south pacific instrument blends speed with rhythm, kaara drummer hands move with lighting speed creating double .. no .. treble .. no .. its a blur.
It doesn’t matter what speed you want with this drum, (like a dragster) you pick a gear and go for it vroooooom. If you need another gear its there no problems.
You can imagine the kaara drummer, he has forearms the size of tree trunks. His massive arms, enables him to generate the speed required to drive this magestic drum. Kaara drummers have the endurance to play for long periods of time, hence the large forearms.
Hula Music
The drummer can play sitting down with the double between his knees, or standing up using a hand-made wooden stand. The drum is small enough to be played in this style, creating the same audio results. At times it has been called the "king" drum, mainly because of the speed and the way the drummer produces an unreal sound with two skinny wooden sticks.
The
kaara hula drum
has a distinctive sound, much like a machine gun ratta-tat-tat, with a high pitched tone. This drum plays an important role in the wooden log hula drum orchestra. It has been known to save a performance when things go wrong. You will be in awe of this hula instrument, the fast and the furious, there's not much more I can say accept if you can handle the sound, the taki rua drummer will go the distance.
