"The 3-Step Male Hula Method..." all you need to know for a male hula dance
A male hula dance is very different from female hula dancing. The key difference is that males "knock their knees together."
The most important thing to remember is to make sure to bend your knees. It helps with balancing and strength and is the foundation to a good
male hula dance.

Female "3-Step Hula, Hip, Sway" method
Knee knocking is the main “hula dance” movement for male dancers. The stance is similar to the Maori haka stance:
Knees bent, legs hip width apart, hips down “kia mou.”
But instead of stamping your feet on the ground... you knock your knees together. Now, let's get to the steps.
Step 1)
Stand upright with legs apart (hip width)
Bend your knees slightly
Hands on hips
A strong stance is required before movements
Step 2)
Move knees in and out (knocking motion)
Knees slightly bent
Keep hands on hips
Step 3)
Keep back straight while knees are bent and slightly bent
Feet firmly on the ground

It is important to keep your shoulders back and to hold your posture in a powerful upright position. I applied the 3-Step Male Hula method and after practising was surprised at how confident and good I became. This will happen for you too... all it takes is a practice. Also this is a great way to
excercise
and enjoy it.
