8-string ukulele .. a cross between modern stringed instruments
8-string ukulele is commonly found in Tahiti and the Cook Islands, the music that derives from this unusually instrument is a cross between a violin, banjo and a high-pitched guitar sound. This multi stringed, wooden, carved musical fascination will take you on journeys of music discovery. You may think you have heard it all? ..”But”.. let me tell you now, until you have experience the harmonic melodies of an 8-string ukulele you haven’t heard anything yet.
Hula Music
This ukulele was from a time of love and lust, a time when music would soothe the savage beast, it has travelled through these difficult times from the past to now, and like anything its music ability has adapted on this journey. No more one, two, one, two up and down style of strumming a ukulele, ..”NOW” it is treble time the faster the pace the better, with the capacity to slow down where necessary. The
8-string ukulele
, the only way I can share what this instrument does is this, listen to a harp player and the music that comes from the harp, it is an angelic sound from the heavens, then add some up beat south American style lumbada music, with a sprinkling of pop, hip hop and reggae, put this all together with some island style music and a up beat tempo and this is as close as you will get to hearing a 8-string uke. There is no other musical instrument that has 8 strings and is carved out of one piece of wood that can and does produce a sound so unique that you will want to hear it all the time. How do I know this, I have been listening for more than 20 years to this incredible instrument and its sound, and will be listening for another 20.
